It has many benefits for the hair, skin, and nails. Description It occurs as a white or off-white crystalline powder. It is stable to air and heat. One gram dissolves in about 5000 mL of water at 25° and in about 1300 mL of alcohol; it is more soluble in hot water and in dilute alkali, and it is insoluble in other common organic solvents. Applications It is a kind of water-soluble vitamin (B7), also called vitamin H, which is widely distributed in all animals and plants at low concentration. The bacteria in human intestine can also synthesize biotin in large quantities and is distribute it in all tissues of the body, with the highest content in liver and kidney. It is an essential coenzyme in the metabolism of carbohydrate, fat and protein.
